Congratulations to Aaron Trussler who made the Essex honours board for his 118 for the Saturday 2nd XI against Woolpit. Another weekend of top performances with all four teams winning their matches!
The 1st XI managed bowl Walsham out for 157 with Gregan and taking 38/3 and Ryan Savill taking 21/3. Batting was met with the usual flurry of runs from Richard Moxon 80* and joined by Matt Sullivan who scored 50. At the half way point the Saturday 1st XI sit second in Division 3 after being promoted last season.
The Saturday 2nd XI saw off challengers Woolpit at The Brow bowling them all out for 206. Simon Berger topped the bowling finishing with 4/37 closely followed by Mike Booker 3/51. Batting was a strong display this weekend with Aaron Trussler topping the run count with his 118* partnered with David Schofield who scored 64*.
Sunday 1st XI welcomed Chappel to The Brow and after a short delay to the start time (I believe there was a small matter of the world cup being shown on the big screen) the NECL XI posted a whoopping 212 in a reduced overs game of 25 overs per innings. Elliot Mann scoring 91 followed by Matt Sullivan 75. THe NECL XI managed to bowl out Chappel for 127 with Chris Southernwood and Andrew Sullivan picking up 2 a piece.
The Sunday 2nd XI encountered Brightlingsea in their Div C match. With only 9 players they managed to bowl Brightlingsea out for 138 with Ryan Savill taking 6/13 (Why is he not on the honours board?) the total was met with the loss of only two wickets, Chris Pettit leading the way with 59*.
Top weekend lions! Four out of four! Will we have another great weekend and who will step up and be on the honours board next weekend?
