Congratulations to Daniel White who made the Essex honours board for his 180 for the Sunday NECL XI against Eight Ash Green. Another weekend of top performances!
The 1st XI managed to restrict Haverhill to 217 with Alex Terry and taking 40/3. The only other wicket would be taken by Gregan Savill who finished with 1 for 67. However, this week it was all about the batting. Darren Davies and Kevin Grant both scoring 100's saw the lions home without the loss of a single wicket. However there was not enough runs on the board for them to etch their names into the history books, so the first wicket partnership of 269* between Peter Brown & Alan Sherwood against Boxted in 1990 still stands.
The Saturday 2nd XI met Woolpit on the return fixture and sadly were the victims of a 10 wicket defeat. Top of the batting was Danny Guy with 34 closely followed by the injured Will House. No wickets from the bowlers but some good economy rates kept the game alive but ultimately not having enough runs cost the 2nd XI this week.
Sunday 1st XI welcomed Eight Ash Green to The Brow and Matt Sullivan chose to bat first. This decision proved to be correct as the NECL XI posted the highest score of the season so far 330/7. Largly thanks to Danny White who scored 180. This was enough to see him top the Essex Honours Board and make 11th place nationally. Bowling once again proved to be hard work with the lions taking only 3 wickets in reply. Rob McKim topped the list with figures of 2/72.
The Sunday 2nd XI conceeded their fixture earlier in the week due to a lack of numbers. If you would like a friendly and sociable game for our development XI please contact Steve Cowland or get in touch via the website.
Top weekend lions! Will we have another great weekend and who will step up and be on the honours board next weekend?
