The 1st XI fell short on Saturday away to Woolpit. After reducing our opponents to 107 for 6, we let them post a total of 223 all out with only 1 ball left to spare of their 45 overs, Tommy Sausage with 3 wickets. A determined 109 not out from The Chief was not enough as he lacked support and we were left 24 runs short finishing on 199 for 6 from our 45.
The 2nd XI won by concession
and picked up 20 points as Braintree we unable to raise a side.
The Sunday TCL XI won a fantastic game of cricket against local rivals Wivenhoe. Bowling first "Super Tim" Mike Booker took 5 for 36 from his 8 overs, good bowling throughout and a late 4 for from Nath Schofield kept the home side to 196 all out from the last ball of their 40 over innings. In reply we chased it with just one ball to spare to win by 4 wickets. Runs for several players with KJ 33, Phil Lingers 38, Robby Mac 34 and Skipper Pockets 26 not out. Further mentions for Sessy for crunching the penultimate ball for 4 to seal the victory and Phil for coming out of wicket keeping retirement to don the gloves once again.
